Graduates of SPARKS' Court Reporting program achieve speeds of 225 wpm with 97% accuracy. Past graduates have become Certified Shorthand Reporters and are employed by court reporting firms or work as freelancers. Court Reporters earn a good
income. A 1991 study of official and freelance reporters noted that
their median yearly earnings ranged from $45,000 to $64,000, with
one-quarter earning more than $64,000. Metropolitan areas offer greater
income and job diversity. A Court Reporter can choose to work for the
government, a court reporting firm, or work as a free
lancer. A Court Reporter may also be employed to provide
closed-captioning for television or assist hearing-impaired students in
universities.

Court Reporting-108 weeks This program is approved by the National Court Reporters Association. The program is designed to equip the graduate for the interesting and challenging field of Court Reporting. Reporters cab be employed as Official or Freelance Reporters. The duties of the reporter are performed in many settings, including the courts, depositions, meetings, arbitration hearings, conventions, and legislative sessions.
